Reception

learning is fun.jpg

In Reception your child will develop and learn so much.  Play is an essential part of teaching and much of your child's learning will be through play, whether initiated by themselves or guided  by adults.

Our EYFS ethos is "Happiness first and all else follows!"

 Home-School Partnership

Our Home-School partnership brings great value to all our children's education at the school.
We are a partnership with the same hopes and aspirations for your child, hence we welcome and value your input.

We love sharing home learning from Tapestry in class and getting the children to discuss and share these with their class and teachers. We love when children bringing in their achievements from home and sharing these successes with the children.  Please have a look at the links below of how you can be involved at home with some of our new EYFS events taking place in school this term.

We adopt Read Write Inc. within School with our children reading and writing each day in varying contexts.

Your child will bring home a banded reading book each Monday. They may also access e-books to share at home using our class login to Oxford Owl.

Please note, at present all Reading Books are collected and sent back out on Monday.

WALT the Wolf

WALT the wolf is a much loved character in Reception. He shows the children any new  rainbow jobs we have out in the provision. He tells us "We Are Learning To..."

Dough Disco

We love to strengthen and develop our fine motor skills throughout the week during Dough Disco. This is vital for support children's muscle development for writing. We love listening to our Song Artist of the week while participating in Dough Disco. Our favourite song so far has definitely been Yellow Submarine by The Beatles.

Why not have a go at home! You can find different videos on YouTube to follow.

Our Class Saint

St. Francis of Assisi

St Francis of Assisi.png

He looks after the animals.

He was rich and gave his things away.

We can pray to him.

He teaches us to:

Love all animals.

Be kind to animals.

Help animals.

Don't hurt animals.

Our Class Scientist

Charles Macintosh

He made the first mac.

We had fun investigating the best material to make a rain coat for our class mascot.

We predicted.

We measured carefully.

We observed closely.

We talked together.

We had fun.

We used scientific words - waterproof, absorbent.

We are all part of God's special family and we know that God is always with us and that he loves us all.

We love sharing Bible Stories and acting them out. So far we have focussed on Jonah and the whale, The Nativity Story and Simeon and Anna.

We know we are all special.

We can say how we are each unique.

We know and celebrate our gifts and talents.
